Description
Home Park multiple ponds with over maturing willows which have never been part of a formal management regime to maintain good form or structural health. Unions are becoming over loaded by branch weight. Over the 3 months 3 separate trees have had large lateral limb fails and many other willows show signs of historic hazard beams and recent cracking in lateral limbs. We plan on reducing the crown size, crown lift and crown thin 14 willow trees surrounding 2 different ponds in home park. The actual size of the reduction will be dictated tree by tree, larger specimens which have an average crown diameter of 14m I suggest a 5m reduction to reduce wind loading effects on unions, resulting in 10m height and 9m crown diameter. Smaller specimens which have an average crown diameter of 9m, I suggest a crown reduction of 2-3m resulting in trees be 10m in height and 6m in diameter. Each reduction would focus on rebalancing the crown and taking weight out where necessary, to maintain the characteristics but significantly reduce risk. Details of tree tags and true size are located in the sketch plan.
