Description

CENTRAL: ONE Elm (T1) REDUCE to monoliths/high stumps. Reason: health & safety, near musical sound garden, twin stemmed tree is dead - small twigs snap, there is no sign of enlarging flower buds, flowers or winged green seeds which should be showing this time of year. Proposed to be replaced with another elm. Duty to replace applies, and to maintain landscape amenity, see below.CENTRAL: ONE Hornbeam (T117) REDUCE to monolith/high stump. Reason: health & safety, tree is leaning towards the much-visited grasslands garden, seating nearby, has remains of fungal fruiting bodies at stem base of probably root decaying Meriplus fungus - the fruiting bodies of this fungus show annually in autumn and decay quickly so not obvious or easy to identify at other times of year, with this fungal infection the tree rarely shows canopy condition decline. Proposed to be replaced with another hornbeam. Duty to replace applies, and to maintain landscape amenity, see below.
