Description
We are applying to seek approval to reduce the overall weight of Holm Oak Tree in our rear garden to the right as looking from the house. This is to reduce the overall weight overhanging in our garden and the overall weight of the tree to one side. The base of the tree is leaning & has broke the base wall so we have concerns and have had those from a tree surgeon shared it could be at risk of falling in time. We have had previously very large branches fall into our garden thankfully to no personal harm as yet.Reduction will ensure safety for the long term health of the tree and for us as a family in our garden. It will also improve the overall balance of the tree and light reaching our garden. As an evergreen the tree significantly diminishes the amount of light and quality to our garden however we do not wish to fell this tree.We have sought advice from tree surgeon who has also advised this tree would significantly benefit from reduction. We would like to consider no more than 1.5 - 2 meters (10%) from the crown focussed more to the top & right-hand side of the tree as you see from the picture below to balance and allow light. The tree branches start to widen out from the base of the tree approx. 4-5m from the ground and we would like to prune lower tertiary branches no greater than 25mm & 5m.
