Description

The venue hire areas are used to hold civil ceremonies within the Fort. The Upper Redan as an area is presently licensed to hold a maximum of 150 people for fire regulations, allowing bookings of up to 125 guests and leaving the remaining 25 for staff and external suppliers. Across the various spaces the individual capacity limits are: Point of the Redan 80 seated (as per the wedding license) and the Ante Room 45 seated (as per the wedding license). The Officers Mess room is currently licensed for wedding ceremony's but we have decided not to renew the license for this room in the new wedding license, so this room is not included in the measurements for this certificate.The entire site is licensed for alcohol sales and consumption, a public entertainments license is also held by Royal Armouries. The site Head of Operations is the Designated Premises Supervisor for site and several staff hold personal licences.Access to the Upper Redan is via one of three staircases, one at the west end of the fort opposite the guardroom, the central staircase from the cross passage area and a wooden staircase next to the Victorian kitchen. Level access to the areas is via the upper walk way of the Voice of the Guns Gallery via the east end corridor door using wheel chair ramps for the two steps immediately inside the door.The Officers Mess and the Ante Room are furnished with period furniture and the entire area is decorated with lime wash on the ceilings and distemper on the walls. This document is to renew the wedding license for 2 rooms, the ante room and the point of the redan. The wedding license previously licensed 3 rooms but this was not necessary, the license will no longer be including the officers mess room.
