Description
Holm Oak - Crown lift to 5.2m for vehicular access on the road and to cut back by 1-2m from the lamp column. (Amended)- Proximity to dwelling especially as circumference of canopy is increasing yearly. Burden of maintenance is at an unreasonable level. Leaf cover is excessive and soil is dry where rain cannot adequately penetrate canopy. Leaf drop is a significant slip hazard to the pavement on Sarum Road and adjacent garden pathways. Excrement from pigeons and squirrels is excessive, particularly in the rear garden of number 1, and has to be cleared on a regular basis by the elderly occupants. This is a very significant health hazard, such that it is not possible to sit near the rear of the garden (gardens are very small) nor to allow children to play there. Washing is regularly soiled. In association with the adjacent beech (T1), Norway maples (T4, T5, T6 ) and pines (T3 & T7), the density of foliage of the combined canopy considerably restricts light penetration to properties 1 & 2 Marnhull Rise, making them dark and oppressive compared to neighbouring properties, especially as the front of the dwellings also suffer from lack of light due to the close proximity of a very large copper beech tree. Canopy obscures the street light thus reducing its effectiveness. On Sarum Road large high-sided vehicles (eg healthcare scanners to and from Sarum Road Hospital) remove branches and twigs on passing the holm oak. This is a potential safety risk to cyclists and pedestrians. Tree is non-native, rogue and of no amenity value.
