Description

Fir Walk Avenue mixture of Broadleaf and Coniferous planting proposed works is to reclaim historic view through avenue to the Obelisk from the garden and back. Works to cut back branches straying into the designed vista, of the Obelisk throughout walk. Cuts to be of no more than 100mm in diameter G1 Group of Ash (next to kissing gate, showing severe ashdieback), 2 x Birch (Closeby on other side of Avenue) Small Beech (Badly squirrel damaged). Fell all four treesT1 Large Tulip Tree nr Rock Arch steps lake side, considered one of the original introductions into the country, planted by Richard Colt Hoare of Stourhead. As per previous treatment 8 years ago, carefully reduce crown where appropriate to previous pollard locations, reducing crown through. Preventive safety work to protect tree from failure and visitors from failing branches on these heavy unions.T2 Large crowned Lime Tree on path leading to Temple of Flora lakeside. Reduce crown and brace as appropriate following observations of cracking/splitting inside multileader canopy.T3 Beech tree, branches above turf triangle on entrance to Stable Yard. Crown lift branches low on visitor, vehicular access route below and remove rubbing branches from masonry and roof tiles.T4 Opposite of Stable Yard entrance gate to T3 Yew, crown lift to remove branches rubbing against historic masonry.T5 Red Oak, carefully crown lift drive side, low branch breaching into access.
