Description
At the back of my garden, along Spring Road, I have some unhappy, unhealthy old conifers. They are mainly covered in ivy. I would like to remove them completely (cut down and grind stump) and replant a new cherry laurel hedge. I am in the process of renovating the back part of my garden which was left abandoned for years by the previous owner. I have planted new hedging along two sides of this section of the garden (yew and cherry laurel) and I d like to replace the old conifers so that it can also look smart along that side of the garden. Another reason for these tree works is that we also need to replace and rebuild the wall along Spring Road as it is cracking and not in good condition. (I have submitted a separate planning permission for this). In order to replace the wall, 0.5m of soil behind the wall will need to be removed. Therefore it would be a good time to remove the conifers and to replant a new cherry laurel hedge once the wall is rebuilt. There are lots of overhanging electric cables above this section of our garden and last year we applied for permission to cut the top off the conifers to try to smarten them up and to stop them getting tangled in the overhead wires. But they still don t look great and a new cherry laurel hedge would be easier to maintain at the correct height below the wires.
