Application Details
Description
In 2014 a planning application was approved to lop one large limb of the tree and crown reduction to reduce the weight of the crown as the crown was splitting from the main trunk. This work was an attempt to preserve the tree, which has lasted until now. The point at which the limb was lopped now has fungal growth and shows signs of internal rot and the splitting shows signs of further weakening the tree. I have had two Tree Surgeons inspect the tree and both have advised that while the crown could be further reduced it would ruin the shape of the tree and the splitting on the trunk is making the crown very weak and susceptible to wind damage. Additionally, the tree has now grown to such a size that it creates excessive shade to the neighbouring property and in places overhangs their boundary. Both tree surgeons recommend that, regrettably, the safest option is to fell the tree. Now that I have been given this advice the tree is a liability that our insurers will not cover should it cause third party damage or injury. The application is therefore for felling the tree.
