Description
Sycamore T1 - WLDC 7 1992 TPOThe agent has been instructed by the landlord/managing company to assess the condition of a Sycamore tree subject to a Tree Preservation Order following reports of branch failures and interference with overhead telecommunications lines.During the site visit, the tree was observed to be leaning approximately 30 degrees off vertical, with the direction of lean extending over the adjacent public highway and directly towards the telecom infrastructure. The tree has experienced previous limb failures, with branches having broken and fallen from the crown, indicating compromised structural integrity. The tree is also exhibiting shallow rooting, which, when combined with the pronounced lean and history of branch failure, significantly increases the risk of further limb failure or whole-tree failure. Given its location, any failure would pose a foreseeable risk to public safety, highway users, and telecommunications services. In accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work ? Recommendations, the tree is considered unsuitable for long-term retention in its current form and location. Remedial pruning would not adequately mitigate the underlying structural defects or reduce the level of risk to an acceptable standard. For the avoidance of doubt, the management company is acting proactively in the interests of public safety and duty of care, rather than in response to an emergency situation. All findings were recorded during the site visit, with photographic evidence submitted in support of this application.Proposed WorksComplete removal of the Sycamore tree T1Removal of the stump to below ground level.Replanting of a suitable replacement tree of restricted mature height, ensuring it will not interfere with overhead telecommunications lines or adjacent infrastructure in the future. The proposed replacement planting will maintain visual amenity and tree cover while ensuring the long-term safety and sustainability of the site.
