Description
Further to a Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) and Risk Assessment using QTRA, ten individual trees and two groups of trees were identified as having risk levelsthat are tolerable if they are As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).Trees T6, T8, T10 and G1 and G2 are all ash trees that are dying from ash dieback disease caused by the fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus. The condition of these trees will continue to decline, and the likelihood of stem or branch failure will increase over time. These trees are recommended for removal to ensure risk is ALARP.Trees T1, T2, T4, T5 and T7 are all sycamore trees that are infected by the fungus Phytophthora ramorum, or they have significant basal decay. The condition of these trees will continue to decline, and the likelihood of stem or branch failure will also increase over time. These trees are recommended for removal to ensure risk is ALARP.Tree T3 is a multiple stem re-growth from an old alder stump on the riverbank that has significant erosion below. The stems have decay cavities at their bases and union with the old stump. There is a potential for failure of one or more stems to the west over the river and neighbouring property. All stems are recommended for removal to ensure risk is ALARP.Tree T9 is a mature oak that has a large stem wound where a co-dominant leading stem failed to the east at an included bark union. Approx. 30% of the main stem diameter is live wood. The canopy of the tree is now biased to the west and there is a risk of stem failure over the garden of the property. It is recommended that the crown of the tree to the west is reduced by 2-3m by removing secondary branches and reducing primary branches back to suitable branch unions, to ensure risk is ALARP.Full survey and risk assesment details including a survey plan and tables can be found in MPTrees Risk Assessment Report, Bank Top, June 2023, appended to this application. It is propsed that 15no. new trees of a variety of species are plante...
