Description

1) Excavation of river gravels from areas of the floodplain. These will be used within the river to provide improved habitat. The shallow excavations created will provide wetland features within the floodplain. 2) Modification to the existing channel cross section - creating a more natural profile with increased habitat and flow diversity. Gravel excavated from the floodplain will be used as part of this process. 3) Creation of a new channel section within the floodplain, where the existing channel planform and instream features have been too heavily modified to be cost effectively restored.
