Description

T1- London Plane: Remove secondary leader on West side of stem. Hard reduce remainder of crown to 3m above main stem break height before works 13m, height after works 9m. Reason. Secondary leader on west side has included bark and a crack in the stem leading from the union down the stem approximately 3.5m long down the stem. There is also weeping from union and crack indicating water ingress and rot beginning within the crack. There is also healing wood either side of the crack beneath the union indicating the tree reacting to the weakness in the union. If left it is feared that the secondary leader will fail. There are parking spaces below the target area putting property and persons at high risk. The pollard is to allow tree to form a new balanced crown and to mitigate for any weakness in the main stem from the crack.
