Description

Holm Oak. See attached report by Doug Pratt BSc (Hons.) For., F. Arbor A. 22nd January 2025.Please also take the following points into consideration, passing to SWISCo for their information:This self-seeded tree is in a precarious position resulting in difficulties to maintain it and risks to persons and property if part or all of it falls. (See immediate risk outlined in attached report.)The tree base takes up the width of a steep and narrow bank, which lies immediately between an approximately six-metre-high stone retaining wall, belonging to Villa Fino, (next door), and the steep narrow access path. The path is the only access to Flats 1 and 2 Clyde House and therefore in regular use. There is no permitted access up the drive at the rear of Clyde House, nor any private or shared parking/turning or formally maintained amenity space for the use of Flats 1 and 2.Due to tree roots, from this Holm Oak, pushing up the previous tarmac surface, half of the path has recently been replaced with concrete. Should the tree, or parts of it, fall to the north or north-west, anyone on the path would be at risk; note one of the residents is physically disabled with mobility issues. The tree sheds branches and leaves all year round which, despite regular clearing of the path, cause a slipping hazard, due to its gradient and narrow width. Much of the path remains in the shade from the tree, more-so in winter, creating more risk for myself as an older person and my disabled neighbour, who's only access is this path. The tree can only be accessed by climbing the bank which is a hazard in itself. The tree is within centimetres of the retaining stone wall on its east side, and immediately behind the wall is the residence, Villa Fino. The close proximity of, and risk to, this property is mentioned in the report. Should the tree, or parts of it, fall to the east, anyone in or outside Villa Fino would be at risk.Any kind of long-term maintenance to the tree is imprac...
