Description
T3 YewReduction through thinning:Reduce by thinning the height by 1m and the eastern spread of the crown by 1m from branch tips, pruning back to suitable growth points (leaving final height at 6m and eastern spread at 3m).Crown lift eastern half of crown to 1.2m. Crown lift over shed on south-west side by lifting up to 2.5m above ground level.Crown thin centre of crown and eastern half of crown by total 15-20%.For all works shape outer crown edge in natural, irregular line, to introduce flowing outline.Reasons for worksThis tree is growing close to the rear of the house and dominates views into the garden. The garden has lacked long term management works, this tree has outgrown its context in terms of height and eastern spread, with dense foliage present. Pruning works are proposed in order to allow reasonable usage of the garden and for clearance above the garden and shed.Pruning works are proposed to manage the size of this tree which has very dense foliage, with very little light penetration all year round.Yews respond well to pruning, with regard to regrowth and resistance to decay.Works discussed on site with Oliver Bennett Tree Officer.
