Description

Row of Alders on Cypress Close to the rear of the properties on Tor Church Road, the proposal is to crown reduce the trees by approximately 2-3m or the best possible growth point either way.The works are minor and will not have a significant impact on the trees or the immediate amenity of the surrounding area, being they are not visible from all cardinal points and the species will tolerate this level of pruning with little to no effect. The justification for the works is as follows, there is no significant arboricultural reason for the works other than the loss of revenue to the hotel and the development of the aquired building which is being renovated to help with the current and future regeneration of Torquay. The trees in question were planted previously as part of the housing development scheme opposite the hotel on Cypress Close. I am unsure if there was a consultation process prior to planting, to discuss the species and the impact they would have on the surrounding businesses who's income partially rely on the amazing sea views that were available before the trees were there. My client does not seek to remove the trees and would ask only to reduce the tops by a reasonable ammount to reinstate the views that were previously visible. They are more than happy to pay for this to be done in the whole street for symetry purposes and would be happy to do this cyclically as required. As a gesture of goodwill they would be willing to donate some trees to be planted in another location of the councils choice to promote any greeninfrastructure projects. I have attached some photos of the trees on Cypress Close for reference, there is a handrail visible in the pictures that would be the desired height of any finishing cuts that would be estimated to be no greater than 100mm or 4".
