Description
T001 - Eucalyptus. Mature lapsed pollard. The tree is rooted directly on top of retaining wall adjacent to highway. The client has requested the removal of the tree and to re-plant a Fagus sylvatica (standard - 10-12cm girth) in its place. Rooted onto of retaining wall and within 1m from adjacent outbuilding. There are signs of cracks developing in the retaining wall directly against the rootplate. The tree has been historically pollarded, but is biased over highway and neighbouring property. The client has informed us that a neighbouring eucalyptus failed onto the highway in the recent past, and is now concerned about the safety of this tree and the potential damage it will cause to both highway, neighbouring property and their wall and out building. There are remnants of old fruiting bodies, which have apparently been identified as Armillaria in the past, yet I was unable to confirm the species at the time of visit. Although this mature Eucalyptus is in a fair condition, the client is increasingly concerned about the liability, safety and potential future costs.
