Description
One mature Common Beech T7 on the site map, the tree has Meripilus around the entire circumfrence of the base. According to my client this has been annual for a long period of time but was never picked up previously due to the time of year when surveys were carried out. Normally i would not have been overly concerned, however upon inspction the canopy is also in decline with at least 50% loss of foliage with no visible reason for the loss of leaf.Upon tapping the buttress roots with an acoustic hammer there are several that are compromised, with the decline in vigour and vitality i am concerned that the health of the tree may decline at an exponential rate, with limited potential to photosynthesise and the tree may become unstable in the coming months in inclement weather. The proposal is to remove the crown in its entirety and leave the main stem from the bole as a monolith for climbers and wildlife.I do not believe reducing the crown by a lesser percentage would be appropriate, either for the tree physically or my client financially. There are houses within falling distance of the tree immediately to the S, SE, and SW the size of the part that would direcly contact the targets may be catastrophic should failure occur, QTRA = T1 , Property, PoF = 3. In my proffessional opinion that these works are justified and would support an exception in the removal of a TPO tree due to the circumstances detailed above.
