Description
T1 - Fraxinus excelsior Pendula (Weeping ash)Pollard back to primary pollard points with final cuts made at approximately x6 metres from ground level. Initiate a well-balanced candelabra framework for future branch structure to establish.Tree appears to be affected by Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) resulting in extensive dieback in the canopy. We believe that pollarding the tree is a justified course of action considering the following reasons related to homeowner and public safety, as well as the potential for future regrowthThe significant dieback in the canopy poses a risk of falling branches, especially during severe weather conditions. Pollarding the tree will remove the potential for branch failure, minimizing the risk of injury to the residents or damage to parked cars or infrastructure. The tree overhangs both the driveway and the public footpath, exposing pedestrians to potential hazards from falling branches. Pollarding will help ensure the safety of pedestrians, preventing any accidents or injuries caused by tree-related incidentsPollarding can stimulate the growth of new shoots from dormant buds located on the tree's main trunk. By reducing the tree's overall size and removing dead or diseased wood, we can promote new and potentially healthier growth and possibly prolong the tree's lifespan. The proposed pollarding of the ash tree is justified based on homeowner and public safety concerns, as well as the potential for future regrowth. By reducing the risk of falling branches, ensuring pedestrian and traffic safety, and promoting new growth, pollarding presents a viable alternative to complete tree removal. We would prefer this option as opposed to felling the tree it can still contribute to the preservation of the local landscape and maintain the tree's ecological value.
