Description

We are asking permission to reduce the size of the sycamore tree (T1) overhanging our garden. We want to remove the 3 main branches which overhang our garden and reduce the height of the tree by about 6 feet. I don't propose trying to cut any branches on the road side of the tree. I contacted the council about 3 years ago to ask permission to have the tree cut and I was told it had been inspected and noted as needing cutting and that the council would take care of it. I enquired earlier this year to see if it is still on the list of works and was told it is but no one can say when it will be done. In the last 3 years the tree has got significantly bigger and now blocks out most of the light in the garden when in full leaf. Many of the plants I have grown successfully since living here have started to die as it's now too shaded for them. I spend so much time having to pick up sycamore flowers, then seeds, then leaves. I've had to pay for a brown bin collection just to keep up with it. I have no problem with the tree, in fact it was nice when we first moved in as it provided some lovely dappled shade in the summer, but it is just getting so large now that it is becoming a real nuisance. I would like to get it cut as soon as possible. When I contacted the council last time to ask how long it would take the person who responded to me recommended I fill in an application to get a tree surgeon in to get the tree back under control. I would also ask for permission to get the tree surgeon in on a regular basis to stop it getting to this state again
