Consultation from Secretary of State seeking the views of Thurrock Borough Council on whether or not an Environmental Impact Assessment (Regulation 13(2)(a) of the EIA Regulations) should be undertaken in respect of the following development: Proposed Variation Application which will seek to vary the consent granted on 14 March 1997 for Coryton under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 for proposed changes to the turbine plant, to improve the efficiency of Coryton, including a number of changes internally to the existing gas turbines and associated systems to increase in the maximum electricity generation up to 850 megawatts. Such views (if any) must be given by no later than 30 October 2023.
