Description

beach tree T23 covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO365)Proposed WorksThe proposed works involve the removal of approximately 25% of the tree?s volume, including dead, dying, or structurally weak branches. The key reasons for this work are: 1. Health and Vitality of the Tree ? Selective thinning of the canopy will improve airflow and reduce the risk of disease and fungal infections, which often thrive in overly dense foliage. ? The removal of dead and weak branches will encourage new growth and prolong the tree?s life expectancy. ? Reducing the volume of the tree will alleviate excessive weight on branches, preventing stress fractures and potential limb failure. 2. Public Safety and Risk Mitigation ? The tree is adjacent to the A404, a busy main road with significant pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The removal of weakened and overgrown branches will reduce the risk of falling limbs, which could pose a serious hazard to road users and pedestrians. ? Deadwood and unstable branches will be systematically removed to minimize potential liability concerns. 3. Improving Light Penetration and Environmental Benefits ? The current dense canopy significantly shades the surrounding area, limiting sunlight exposure to nearby properties, gardens, and public spaces. The reduction in volume will help restore natural light levels while maintaining the tree?s aesthetic and ecological benefits. ? Allowing more light to penetrate will support the undergrowth and local biodiversity by promoting healthy plant life beneath the tree.Method of Work Execution ? All work will be carried out by a qualified arborist/tree surgeon Tree Kings with experience in TPO-protected tree management. ? The pruning will be conducted using crown thinning techniques, ensuring a natural shape is retained while selectively removing no more than 25% of the overall volume. ? All deadwood and hazardous limbs will be safely removed and disposed of.
