Description

We request permission to cut down a Cherry Plum tree subject to Tree Preservation Order: Ref: T364, TPO760: Abbots Road, Abbots Langley. We would like to remove the tree and plant a replacement tree. We have taken advice from Tree Surgeon Mr Shew of SS Tree Specialist Hertfordshire (07732 822 938) and he has advised that:- The tree is dead and diseased in places.- Some of the roots are exposed and diseased.- The tree is inflicted with honeycomb fungus. - The tree is likely to come down in the wind as it is diseased and has shallow roots.- The tree branches are touching the overhanging telephone wires. The tree has been diseased and inflicted with honeycomb fungus since we moved into the property over four years ago. We tried to revive the tree when we moved in, including by stripping away the ivy which had grown all over it, but the tree has worsened and has almost stopped bearing fruit. We are concerned that the tree may fall which means there is a risk of injury and/or property damage, particularly if the tree roots are wrapped around utility pipes. We are happy to purchase a replacement five foot Cherry Plum ( Prunus cerasifera Nigra) and plant in the same, or in an adjacent location. We attach photographs of the tree, in particular showing the branches touching the overhead telephone wires and the diseased and exposed roots and trunk.
