Description

A specialist inspected the tree, his summary as follows: one weeping willow tree (Salix babylonica L.). growing within the rear garden of No. 1A High Close. Mr Brett has found tree roots growing within a rainwater downpipe on the southern flank wall of his property, No. 1A High Close. He has had discussions with his neighbours to the south side who own No. 1 High Close. They have also found a root mass within a similar downpipe on the northern flank wall of their property. A drainage company investigation identified roots within the pipework of the foul water drain that are believed to belong to the willow tree. In addition, the owners of No 1 have uncovered a large structural root under the driveway to the north side of their house which seems to emanate from the willow tree. Having inspected the willow tree and the root masses removed from the downpipes of both properties, and viewed the trespassing structural root I concluded that the roots emanate from the willow tree. I considered the option of root pruning but have ultimately recommended tree removal as a lasting solution.
