Description

-T1 pear - Remove dead wood. Selectively reduce the eastern stem at 2m and north-eastern stem at 4m to reduce end-weight/loading. Very lightly thinning the outer crown throughout the remainder of the tree in order to reduce loading associated with the weight of fruit. Cuts should be kept to a maximum diameter of 15-20mm, and a total loss of foliage bearing branches should not exceed 10% of its current volume. Avoid cutting back to the historic reduction points by shortening re-growth rather than removing it.
