Description
We are asking for permission to fully remove 6 live trees and 2 dead trees from the front garden of our house. These are marked T2, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9 and T10 on the plan attached to this application. Two of the trees (marked T2 and T4) are dead. We do not intend to do anything with any other tree, including a very large tree at the north east corner of the garden and a laburnum at the northern boundary of our property. We propose to plant 3 new, smaller, ornamental trees in the front garden. The reasons for wishing to remove these trees are as follows:1. The site is completely overgrown with a number of very large imposing Conifers. They significantly restrict the usable space in our front garden.2. The trees are low-amenity, unattractive trees.3. The trees are restricting light to an already shaded North-facing site, as well as to our neighbour's house and garden. 4. The Conifers are in danger of interfering with overhead cabling to our property and our neighbours' property.5. There are at least 2 dead trees on site (a prunus and a conifer, outlined in red) ; 1 large conifer on the boundary line to the neighbouring property and 1 just off the front boundary to the highway which present a safety issue in the possible case of dropping limbs or falling in high winds. These plainly need removing.6. Other Properties on Priestnall Road consist of front gardens with an open aspect to the road with boundary railings and hedging with smaller, ornamental trees suitable for a domestic garden. We are looking to bring our garden in line with our neighbours' front gardens.7. Ivy has grown through, over and into the whole space, this coupled with the conifer trees being completely overgrown means there are few gaps between vegetation making it difficult to identify where one tree stops and another begins. Site being largely inaccessible makes it difficult to carry out necessary maintenance to keep on top of pernicious weeds ie Mares tail HAR/CA21.
