Description

We are the homeowners of 25 Priestnall Road, Heaton Mersey, Stockport, SK4 3HR.Our intention is to remove two Lime trees in our back garden which have grown to considerable size - 15 metres (see diagram - marked as T1 and T2). The tree roots are lifting up the tarmac of the driveway (see images) and this has caused water ingress in our garage. This has worsened in the 18 months we have lived in the house (this is highlighted in the images attached; some were taken when we moved into the property in September 2022; we have also attached several recent photographs which show a clear worsening of the impact of the roots lifting the driveway). Both trees are close to the house, with the closest being a little over 5 metres away. We are concerned about the impact of the roots on the foundations and cellar of the house, as well as the utilities. As you are aware, we live in a conservation area however the trees are not subject to TPOs.The roots are also likely to have a similar impact upon our next door neighbour's house (number 23 Priestnall Road) - as you will see from the diagram the trees are very close to the their property too.We have discussed this with our neighbours within the vicinity (we have consulted all neighbours listed on the diagram), they are all in agreement and support the decision to remove the trees. We plan to plant two smaller trees in the garden as replacement, which will be more suitable in terms of proximity to the house. HAR/CA21.
