I wish to remove a tree from our rear garden at 4 York Road, SK4 4PQ.The tree is a Lombardy poplar, over 60 years old, at the rear of the garden. It is probably 5 stories tall (it towers over our 3 story house). It has started to drop branches and has developed a lean to the northeast, as the prevailing winds tend to be from the southwest.I have been advised that lopping a tree of this type will not solve the problem, only make it worse (my neighbour did this, and the tree fell down a few years later).The neighbours are very worried as their properties would be affected if the tree were to fall. I am also nervous as the tree would also fall on my property. I don't like being nervous and I don't like having nervous neighbours.We will plant another tree (not a poplar!) in its place, as well as adding other (small) trees to the garden. HAR/CA15.
