Application Details
Description
T1 Western Red Cedar. Fell to ground level. The tree now has large limbs resting on the roof of the adjacent annex building. It has been historically topped with the resulting re-growth now heavy, with weak attachments which are liable to start failing from the cut point. Given the size of the limbs needed to be lifted off the adjacent building roof and the poor form that would result if it were topped back to historic pruning points, it is considered that the tree will not recover well from the resulting large pruning wounds left and it will look unbalanced and of very poor form. As such, it is considered appropriate for this tree to be removed and a new one planted that will grow in harmony with the surroundings. A notification was made for the removal of this tree back in October 2020 but due to Covid the applicant never managed to organise for its removal. Its position now in relation to the garage is worse after an additional five years growth.
