Application Details
Description
T804 Horse Chestnut - Growing immediately adjacent to the boundary with an asymmetric canopy. No evidence of pathogenic activity. There are three significant included unions at crown break. Two of the large low limbs have a lot of bacterial flux exuding from them indicating potential cavities and low adhesion. Good vigour. Insignificant but present bleeding canker. Historic beam crack with occlusion in western co dominant stem. Restructure the tree, reducing by 4 5m with the expectation that the regeneration growth at the cut points can be managed on a 3-5 year cycle. These works will remove the loading on the main stem unions making area around tree safer. T809 Veteran Sycamore Pollard Significant regeneration growth from the historic pollard head. The attachment points for the regeneration growth appear to be stable. Nominal quantities of deadwood in the canopy. Good vigour. Tree is hollow T810 Veteran Sycamore Pollard Vigorous and healthy-looking growth, minor epicormic growth. Historically reduced. Tree is substantially hollow. Attachment points are good, sections of major deadwood at low levels. Kretzschmaria deusta at base (Root decay pathogen). Tree is hollow T811 Veteran Sycamore Pollard To the west. Good healthy leaf cover. Evidence of major deadwood. Good attachment points. Internal Ganoderma brackets present. Tree is hollow. Works for: T811, T810, T809 These three trees will require some form of management pruning within 2 years or so to mitigate end loading of the limbs and stems. The trees are all in the latter stages of life and may shed limbs to avoid failure at the roots. Future works would involve reducing the side laterals by 2-2.5m and the height by 1-1.5m, maintaining a balanced and flowing crown outline, limiting the physiological stress on the trees and substantially reducing the risk of limb failure. T816 Willow Multi-stem with vigorous regeneration growth from historic pruning points. Some dead stems. Decay at base from historic stem failures. To restructure, reducing main scaffolds by 2m. This is to mitigate future branch failures.
