Application Details
Description
The reason for the application is that the area includes a Horse Chestnut with a TPO (09/1990) and the location within the convervation area. The plan proposed by the arborist is as follows: There is a natural establishment of young, invasive sycamore saplings around the Horse Chestnut. These will, in time, grow to be very large and will cause a future problem. In effect, they cannot be trimmed like a hedge and will become trees. The idea would be to carefully use a mini digger to uproot these, landscape the bank down onto the road, and plant a native hedge that connects with the hedge that has been regularly laid over the years. The other possibility to deal with the sycamore is to cut the stems to ground level and poison the stumps. The saplings are growing around the base of a large horse chestnut tree which has a TPO (09/1990) and this must be protected.
