NB all trees on our plan and in scope of work have stem diameter greater than 100mm at 1.5m height. Trees in our garden (1 Swiss Cottages, 13 High Street, Long Wittenham): - Cherry [on plan, tree number 1]: complete removal. Approximately 7 metres high. Reason: blocking light from old apple tree in our garden [on plan, tree number 2]. - Apple [on plan, tree number 2]: tipping branches on the NE side only by 2 metres (to promote growth and rebalance). Trees in our neighbour s garden (Grape Vine, High Street, Long Wittenham - we can provide contact details if required): - Two ash trees [on plan, tree numbers 3 and 4]: raising the crown on both trees by 5 metres on our side of the property boundary; tipping the remaining branches that overhang our property by 3 metres. Reason: the branches overhang the full width of our garden, smothering the old apple tree [on plan, tree number 2]. None of these trees can be seen from the street (High Street) or the public footpath running behind the properties. The overall purpose of the proposed works is to promote the health of the old apple tree in our garden. The above works have been recommended by a local tree surgeon: Orchard Cottage, High Road, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Nr Wallingford Oxon, OX10 0PS. We have also informed our neighbour at Grape Vine cottage of the proposed works.
