Application Details
Description
The tree concerned is a Sycamore in the garden of 62 Watling Lane, Dorchester on Thames. The base of the tree has a diameter of 1.4m, At 1.5m from the ground it splits into 4 trunks. The height of the tree is approximately 25m and the spread is about 19m. Its spread and density dominates several gardens and not a blade of grass grows beneath it. The trees dominance needs to be reduced. This will entail crown lifting to 3m, crown reduction to 20m and spread to 15m. The proposed reductions will preserve the amenity value of the tree and it will mean that it will be enjoyed rather than being cursed. All neighbours (5) have been consulted and without exception they are very supportive of reducing the tree. Some are concerned about the tree being close to their fencing, garages, and houses . In addition its worth noting that there is an electricity substation within about 6m of the base of the tree.
