Application Details
Description
Silver Birch (1) Fell due to significant dieback and damage to wall. Replant with 2 x Yew to continue the Yew screen along the back wall (which borders Goldsmith s Lane carpark). This would also match with the surrounding mature Yews in the garden and next door which are a feature of this part of town. Sorbus (2) Rangy and unkempt due to lack of ongoing maintenance. Request: 3m reduction and reshape. Hazel (3) Coppice by 1m to retain height and width, and improve density of cover. Yew (4) Large, patchy and unattractive due to lack of ongoing maintenance, has also been tethered to the neighbouring apple tree with a metal cable for many years (/decades?), significantly damaging the trunk and some boughs. Request: raise crown, reduce lateral spread, reduce crown height by up to 3m to reshape, neaten and create an attractive, maintainable shape. Remove metal cable and fixings, and remove any subsequently affected or unsupported boughs. Apple (5) Hollow with heartwood decay. Attached to neighbouring Yew by metal cable Request: Fell, as this tree will not stand unsupported and is in ill-health. Do not replace due to very close proximity to the large Yew. Holly (6) Has become very tall and shapeless. Request: reduce height by 3m in line with adjacent buildings and reshape to thicken canopy and improve overall look. Hazel (7) Coppice to 2m. Elder (8) Fell and remove. No replacement due to close proximity to Holly (6) and Hazel (7). Buddleia (9) Fell as this is overgrown and in poor shape. Replace with pleached hornbeams x6 which will run along the boundary with Church Lane and the adjacent property (see plan B). Crabapple (10) Prune and tidy and reduce canopy by up to 3m. Honey Locus (11) - within hedge Prune by up to 3m to fit within the hedge Yew/holly hedge (12) Currently wildly overgrown and significantly overhanging Church Lane, potential risk to pedestrians. Request: Prune to 3m.
