Description
T1 mature Cedar of Lebanon (T1 of TPO 11/1981) has recently lost a limb, with other historic limb loss also observed during our visit. The recent limb loss was observed in the rear garden. The union/branch junction failure point looked sound with no incipient decay/weakness observed. Without seeing the branch in situ before the failure, we can only assume a combination of over extension and summer limb drop came into play here. In order to mitigate concerns with this large roadside tree, we proposed the following works: Reduce over extended laterals by up to a maximum of 3.0m where appropriate, leaving a balanced and flowing crown. Carry out climbing inspection looking for any features, removing any broken or trapped branches as required. T2 mature Lime located beside gate (within G2 of TPO 11/1981) is in a decline spiral with notable lower leaf density and colour than neighbouring trees, along with bacterial exudate and exposed sapwood at key points of the main trunk. Dismantle to ground level.
