Description

T1 - Lime - Remove T2- Lime - Retain T3 - Lime - Remove T4 - Lime - Remove T5 - Lime - Retain 5 x Lime trees planted along the rear boundary of the property, originally planted as a screening along the rear of Elms Dyke (As a total of 10 spread across the rear boundary of the 4 properties) prior to the construction of the dwellings. Trees growing within no 4's garden were planted at approximately 4 and 5 metre spacings what is clearly inadequate to incorporate the species ultimate size and crown spread. As a result the 5 trees have now formed more of a 'hedge' than individual specimen trees and are causing excessive light issues to all properties nearby, there is also problems with secretion making the whole area uninhabitable and unusable. Our recommendations are to selectively thin the plantings by removing 3 of the poorer trees, retaining the 2 most impressive specimens to be allowed to develop uninhibited as individual trees. This will benefit the 2 x retained trees not competing with the others allowing more light and air into the canopies, not fighting for nutrients and will be more aesthetically pleasing to the whole area, although some minor pruning may be required at a later date. It will also reduce the problems with light and secretion to the nearby properties. None of the removed trees stumps are to applicated with herbicide as of the risk of translocating to the remaining trees in the garden and the neighbouring trees. Stumps are to be removed by means of stump grinding with great care to not to damage any of the retained trees roots.
