Description

2 Thuja Plicata trees with a joint canopy showing signs of potential failure beside Cloisters Cafe. Northern Thuja plicata tree (T1) has large cavities at the base of where the limbs split from the main stem. Picus scan shows decay at the base of the Southern Thuja plicata (T2). The trees are in a very high use area and therefore pose a very high risk.Proposed works:Crown reduce the upper crown terminal leaders by 2m to 3m. Work to be undertaken in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work recommendation. Continue to monitor and inspect both specimen on an annual basis.
