Application Details
Description
T3 mature sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) as shown in Appendix A - sketch plan, is within the area TPO T2/112/A1 Recommend fell to ground level. The work is required because the tree, which has a significant and worsening lean over the residential property from approximately 10 degrees to >30 degrees which has declined over the last 9 years, has evidence of soil erosion around the roots, early signs of decay cavity at the base of the tree to the south of the trunk, evidence of soft rot (possibly due to Honey Fungus) in other trees in the vicinity (some of which have failed), loss of protection of other trees which have failed resulting in T3 being vulnerable to prevailing easterly winds, all of which have resulted in a ISA Risk Rating of High RiskThe work to remove the tree is recommended to mitigate the risk of harm to people and damage to propertyThere are a significant number of sycamore saplings within the surrounding woodland which have naturalised and will replace T3. I would not recommend replacement in close proximity to T3 due to the high banking and presence of Honey Fungus leading to future similar issues of failure in replacement trees.
