Description
TPO/00083/09 - T1 Oak Tree Fell & replace. I hope this message finds you well. Me and my family have just moved into 23 Wood Avenue. I am writing to formally request that the TPO on the oak tree aforementioned could be removed. We fully appreciate the importance of protecting mature trees and the environmental value they provide. However, we are concerned about the safety risk posed by this particular tree. The oak is situated less than 5m from our house and all its major branches are growing towards the property. This has created a noticeable one sided canopy. In addition the tree is heavily covered in mature ivy, which significantly increases the surface area exposed to wind. We are concerned this acts like a sail during strong winds, placing additional stress on the trees structure and root system. Given its proximity to the house and its unbalanced growth pattern, we are worried if the tree were to fall, it would almost certainly fall towards the property causing significant structural damage and posing a serious safety risk to the occupants. We would be happy to comply with any reasonable conditions, including replanting suitable replacements tree(s) in a safer location. In addition we have 6 other trees in our garden with a TPO that we have no intention of making a similar request as we love the look of our garden, which is the key reason we purchased this house as we love the trees and the woods. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. We look forward to your response.
