Application Details
Description
This site contains 44 mature poplar trees and one sycamore, all ranging between approximately 30-50 feet tall and forming a continuous boundary along this industrial estate, whilst overlooking multiple commercial yards. Following a detailed assessment, we have identified 15 of these trees as presenting an elevated level of risk due to their size and condition, therefore consider them a priority for remedial work. We are also seeking permission for the remaining 30 trees to ensure there ongoing safety, health and suitability within the busy commercial environment. The applicant is concerned after a tree failed last year landing in one of the commercial spaces, which are working areas for staff and also home buildings and vehicles. (TPO ref: A3) T1-T3, - Requesting to fell to ground level. These trees are growing at a pronounced angle, which have compromised their stability and created a significant risk of failure. Due to the severity of the lean and the limited potential for safe corrective pruning, removal to ground level is necessary to eliminate the hazard. T4-T45, - Requesting to reduce to 20/25ft. The mature poplar trees on this site have grown to a substantial height and have not been managed for an extended period, resulting in increased risk of branch failure and overall structural ability. There size and current condition pose a potential hazard to the surrounding commercial facilities, where failing limbs or tree failure could cause significant damage to property and present safety concerns for staff and visitors. Reducing the trees will help maintain their long term health while mitigating the risk they currently present to the neighbouring businesses and infrastructure. The 15 trees at an elevated level of risk are -T1-T3, T8, T10,T11,T12, T13, T17, T22, T27, T33, T36, T39, T41, Phase 1 - Priority (15 trees), to be carried out in March/April 2026Phase 2 - Non emergency (30 trees), to be carried out in November/December 2026
