Description
T01: False acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia). The tree Is located within a closed 5x5m courtyard to the rear of 4 Salcombe Villas and is accessible only through the front of the property. The tree has historically undergone extensive pruning operations to reduce the stem length to approximately 4m (to manage its decline), effectively removing the canopy of the tree exposing a column of decay and associated hollowing along the length of the stem. Historical pruning works to remove the tree canopy have resulted in a dense formation of weakly attached epicormic regrowth attached mostly to the top of the decayed stem column. The tree has a history of shedding branches onto the site and into neighbouring properties. Our client has expressed valid concerns that thorny branches dropping onto the garden pose a risk to children playing in this area. The tree has reached its safe useful life expectancy, and it is becoming difficult to manage its decline within the confined space that it dwells. We advise that the tree is removed whilst it is practical to do so and replace it with a species that is suitable to the site, eg: mountain ash - Rowan sp
