Description

TPO Number RE731T1 (T1 on Council Website) Tulip Tree This has honey fungus and is shedding a considerable amount of debris, with sizeable whole branches coming off and fortunately no-one has been injured so far (see photo) It is located extremely close to 25 Gatton Road. See photos. The Council Tree officer with an Arborist, looked at this tree on a Site visit in 2019 and suggested removing it. Carefully dismantle to as close to ground level as possible utilising a mobile elevated work platform Our suggestion is to replace the tree with a Magnolia Grandiflora which we feel would provide visual amenity, attract birds, bees and pollinators and wildlife, however we would seek the Tree officer opinions on this. T2 (T12 on Council Website) Redwood An application was submitted in 2021. This tree would have been originally planted in Gatton Park, but is now in a residential area, and being the tallest tree species in the world, is unsuitable for its location now, with huge safety aspects because of the size of tree. It shades the garden considerably and all the trees, shrubs, plants and grass, which were in a landscaped area, around the tree have now died. Photos attached. Six months after this application was refused, in February 2022, half of the top of the tree came down in a storm, with three and a half tonne of tree in my garden causing risk to people and property. Luckily no-one was injured. There is now a three-metre open wound in the tree, and risk of infection, that the tree and parts of the tree will come down and not at a time of our choosing. There are whole branches coming off this tree causing safety issues and again luckily no-one has been injured so far. There are branches hanging down that cannot be made safe because of the risk of safety to tree surgeons climbing the tree above the wound. I sent photos to the Tree Officer, and he asked me to work with Dave Ford and submit a planning application. Tree surgeons from Dave Ford Tree Care
