Description
3 x silver birch (T1, T2, T3): Fell Reasons: T1 is set back from the road and is not prominent in public views. Removal of T1 would benefit the larger cedar tree adjacent, that is also protected by the same TPO and is the key arboricultural feature of the property and the TPO, the silver birch is limiting the growth and development of lower branches of the cedar on this side. The removal of the silver birch (T1) should allow the cedar to develop a fuller and better-balanced canopy. T2 is drawn-up and has a slight lean towards the road. It also has a large girdling root at the base. A metal probe can also be inserted below the base of the T2 by almost it?s full length of 450mm. This is more likely a void below the buttress roots of the tree rather than a decay related cavity but combined with the girdling root, lean and drawn up crown raises concerns on the overall structure of the tree. T3 is suppressed by T2, with an unbalanced crown structure. The telephone wire runs under the canopy of T2 and through the crown of T3, I have been informed that branches often fall on the telephone wire. Replace with 2 x Liquidambar Styraciflua (Sweet Gum). Heavy standard size (12 to 14cm girth at 1m and at least 3.5m tall).
