Description

The proposal is to crown the ash tree identified on the plan enclosed with this application. The tree has had no work done to it for many years and is now very large and dominant. The tree causes excessive shading to the gardens at 3 and 4 Brier Lea. In addition to the shading, the tree presents a hazard to the occupiers of these properties by way of fallen dead branches. This is happening on a regular basis, and has already resulted in damage to a shed roof at 4 Brier Lea. Some of the fallen branches have been large enough to cause injury. The applicant's young child and his friends play in the garden, and the owner is concerned that the garden should be safe for them to do so. The proposed works will achieve the desired result and leave the tree in a healthy condition. As far as is know the tree is not in danger of falling, or causing damage to buildings, but reducing the size of the tree will help in preventing such damage occurring.
