Description

A large and established Fagus sylvatica (ref number 03411) located at the top of the Top Lawn towards Killtime in the gardens. The tree leans over a well used footpath which would be in the crash zone. The tree has a large hollow at the base (over 1m deep) and large areas of dead wood in the trunk. However, of most concern is the significant infection of Kretzschmaria deusta which affects the weaker side of the tree. It has been recommended by our lead tree inspector to remove the risk of tree failure by reducing the tree. It would then be kept as a standing monolith for wildlife habitat.
