Description

We are applying for consent to fell the TPO-protected tree (T24) located in the front garden of 34 Eskdale Drive.The tree has now reached a considerable size and has not had any significant maintenance for almost ten years. During this time, it has been allowed to grow unchecked, with its canopy extending over the roofline and its roots in close proximity to the property. This has led to a number of issues, including excessive shading, moss and debris accumulating in the gutters, and visible cracking to parts of the house.A recent home survey highlighted several issues consistent with the potential effects of a large mature tree being situated very close to a dwelling, including cracking and maintenance concerns. While the survey did not specifically attribute the cause, the findings support what is plainly evident that the scale and proximity of the tree are now inappropriate for the setting and may reasonably be contributing to the ongoing problems.A previous application (ref: 07/01266/PTPO) was submitted by a former owner to fell this same tree. At that time, the Council acknowledged that the tree was becoming too large for its location and indicated that any future application would likely be viewed more favourably once the tree had grown further. Since then, the tree has continued to expand in both height and spread, and the issues previously noted have worsened.There is no practical scope to replant a tree of similar size on the site without repeating the same problems. The space currently occupied by the tree will be required for a driveway to make the property more accessible, and a smaller replacement tree would not be suitable given the limited space and proximity to the dwelling.We therefore respectfully request that consent be granted to fell the tree (T24) to prevent further damage and allow the property to be safely and sustainably maintained.
