Application Details
Description
Sectional fell a row of 12 late adolescent to early mature Lime trees. They've all been historically pollarded at roughly 15ft from ground level and are growing under the shading of various mature trees, these factors have produced leggy sub prime specimens lacking full crowns for their height. A street Lime tree in the immediate vicinity (within 2.5 metres) of multiple trees stated in this application on the property recently failed due to severe fungal infection, lifting the pavement and fell across Mapperley hall Drive. A further lime tree was removed approx 5 years ago at the instruction of the council due to fungal infection. This tree was also in direct root contact with the trees in this application. Roughly 3 years ago, 2 Lime trees that were forming the eastern end of the row, were removed after planning consent was obtained due to fungal infection. These diseased trees also were in direct root contact with the other trees in this application. After the street tree failed, and along with the other trees that have become infected and removed, the owner would like to remove the remaining Lime trees to negate the risk of his trees succumbing to the fungus and falling onto the road/pavement adjacent. The owners wish to plant a Beech or Laurel hedge along that boundary, this would provide better long term habitat for smaller nesting birds.
