Application Details
Description
T1 Acer Pseudoplatanus, insufficient rooting area with a poor quality soil substrate contributing to a reduced overall lifespan coupled with a decreased ability to withstand biotic and abiotic factors. T2 Acer Pseudoplatanus, insufficient rooting area with a poor quality soil substrate contributing to a reduced overall lifespan coupled with a decreased ability to withstand biotic and abiotic factors. In addition the removal of trees not covered by tpo will alter the exposure resulting in an increased windload that they are not bio-mechanically adapted to. This will push the Risk from tolerable to Not tolerable with the only available control measure being removal as a canopy reduction will reduce the tree's ability to dissipate wind load, as the mass dampening effect is reduced, along with it's ability to naturally alter it's Cd value (aerodynamic drag co-efficient) and optimise it's crown shape to minimise wind load in relation to excessive wind speeds. In addition, the reduction will alter the tree's oscillation movement response to windloads, resulting in an increased bending load, alongside an altered bending point, on the trunk, further increasing the chance of failure. A replant is planned but at this current moment, we have not reached a decision with the client as to the exact species or location of these trees.
