Lime trees are not good at resisting decay after being wounded. As the trees continue to grow there will be increased forces at this point that could result in a catastrophic failure. Reducing the trees would increase their stability and therefore the safe useful lifer expectancy of the trees7. Work undertaken under dead and dangerous exemption, no consent required.
