Description

Works:T1: Weeping Beech. Fell to ground level and poison stump.T2-5: 4x Limes, T6: 1 Robinia & T7: 1 Sycamore growing on top of wall running adjacent to Newcastle Drive - Fell to ground level and poison stumps.Justification:T1. Beech tree: "The trunk of the tree is touching the wall and as it grows this is exerting lateral pressure on the wall. Also the tree roots will be growing beneath the wall foundations. This will have the effect of undermining the wall as well as causing movement of the wall.At the moment the wall appears to be stable but it is impossible to judge when the wall will become unstable and therefore unsafe. We recommend the tree is removed as soon as possible and the wall is repaired....."T2-5: 4x Limes, T6: 1 Robinia & T7:The trees and area have been neglected and many of the trees are obscured by ivy. The trees are also growing on top of a high retaining wall above Newcastle terrace. As the trees increase in size they will be increasing the forces on the wall, possible causing damage. The trees form does not lend themselves to being reduced and the so the prefered option would be to remove the trees and replace.
