Description
Deodar Cedar - for at least the past 2 years bad weather in winter has led to large branches falling off the tree onto the ground below, which is a public cemetery and therefore a risk to public. Long Ashton Parish Council recently commissioned a tree report to investigate the condition of the tree and whether anything could be done to reduce the risk of future falling branches. This report concluded that although the tree was in good condition overall, storm damage has altered dynamic loading on remaining branches and recommends remedial pruning work. Associated risk with the tree is concluded to be acceptable, but pruning works to the NE portion of the crown would greatly reduce the chance of further branch failure and improve the longevity of the tree, and further reduce the level of risk. Specific branch reductions by 1-2 metres are recommended for the NE of the canopy, but to keep as much foliage as possible on them while doing so.
